Over the last ten years, the number of abandoned animals in Spain has been gradually decreasing, but the figure has stagnated and is barely falling.According to the Affinity Foundation,every five minutes an animal shelter rescues an abandoned animal. In 2009, there were 151,673 abandonments, and in 2018, 138,407 abandoned animals were registered, 100 more than in 2017.
